Este projecto inscreve-se no propósito de criação de uma linha de investigação sobre História Ambiental no quadro actual do Centro de História da Universidade de Lisboa. Aproveitando a transversalidade das temáticas que têm vindo a ser trabalhadas neste Centro, o potencial dos seus investigadores e as ligações já existentes com outros centros da FLUL, designadamente o Centro de Arqueologia (UNIARQ) e com grupos e redes de investigação nacionais e estrangeiras, o projecto teve início em 2016.
Neste contexto, e num primeiro momento, o projecto visa a promoção e desenvolvimento de trabalhos de investigação centrados na articulação da História dos Impérios com a História Natural, a História da Ciência e a História Ambiental sendo que, do ponto de vista cronológico, embora possa haver uma ligação mais imediata ao período moderno, se extravasam naturalmente os limites deste pela natureza dos conteúdos a tratar e a importância de uma análise simultaneamente diacrónica e sincrónica.

This project is fundamental to the creation of a research line on Environmental History within the current framework of the CH-ULisboa. Benefiting from the transversality of the themes that have been studied in this Centre, the potential of its researchers and the existing links with other research centres of the School of Arts and Humanities, namely the Centre for Archeology of the University of Lisbon (UNIARQ), as well as with national and foreign research groups and networks, this project started in 2016.
In this context, firstly the project aims to promote and to develop research focused on the articulation between the History of the Empires and Natural History, the History of Science and Environmental History. From a chronological point of view, although there may be a more immediate connection to the modern period, the scope of the work thus naturally extending beyond the limits of this period by the nature of the content to be discussed and the importance of both a diachronic and synchronic analysis of the subject.
