Building on the pathbreaking study Forgotten Diaspora by Peter Mark and José da Silva Horta, this talk contributes to our knowledge of the transatlantic trade networks of Iberians of Jewish heritage who established vibrant and complex communities on the Petite Côte of what is today Senegal around the beginning of the seventeenth century. It draws on little-known Spanish-language sources including notarial records from the Canary Islands, port entry records for Cartagena de Indias, and judicial proceedings in Seville that incorporated testimony produced in Santiago de Cabo Verde and in Cacheu.
